Inclement Weather Policy

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the Capital City Half Marathon website so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary.

The Race Director and Medical Director will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race.

Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15 minute increments.

If extreme heat is predicted, extra water will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures.

Update April 30, 2010:

Our weather WBNS 10TV weather is calling for the potential of inclement weather during the Capital City Half Marathon. Current predictions are calling for a low of 57°F at race start warming up to a high of 74°F. Chip Timing Requirements

B-Tag single use bib tag

Your Timing Device for this event is the ChronoTrack B-Tag: A single use bib tag. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your bib is...

  • Clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Unaltered and unmodified (do not fold or wrinkle)
  • Pinned in all four corners
  • Not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

PDFPrinter-friendly directions.

Tag time is the most accurate form of timing available because it measures the exact time between an athlete crossing the start line and the finish line. In addition, the new timing system will eliminate pre-race chip assignment, post-race chip return, and fees for lost or unreturned chips, allowing athletes to focus more on their competition and less on the timing mechanism. That's right, no clipping, $30 charges, etc. Just put them on, run, get great results and throw them away.

  • Do not forget your bib on race day. Without a bib tag, you will not receive a time!
  • Bibs are non-transferable. Each bib must be worn only by the participant to whom it is assigned.
  • Do not cross the finish line more than once.
